Creating multiple streams of income
As an online entrepreneur I’m always on the lookout for new opportunities. In recent months I’ve taken advantage of several, and I’d like to share some of those with you to show just how much opportunity there is out there…
Multiple Streams of Income
I read Robert G Allen’s Multiple Streams of Online Income a while ago. It’s quite an old book now (first published in 2001) but some of the core ideas are still valid today… the main one being that to have a solid financial independence you need MULTIPLE streams of income. Not A website, or A service, but a number of independent income sources.
With that in mind I was inspired to take the Niche Profits Classroom course after listening to an interview with one of the founders on Yaro Starak’s blog.
If you read my early posts about the course you’ll already know how powerful I thought it was, and within just a couple of weeks I’d launched my first ‘niche profits’ website, Boa Care, based on one of my long time hobbies/obsessions – snake keeping.
I wrote a simple ebook, built a simple site following the video tutorials and guidelines in the Niche Profits Classroom, and marketed the site via simple but effective free means. The results were outstanding, with first page Google rankings within days, not months, and sales following shortly after.
I’ve since launched other NPC style sites, and my current ‘big project’ is a much larger, in depth tutorial based site based on the same principles… but the concept remains the same, building MULTIPLE websites which are independent and are not reliant on one source of traffic.
If the idea of building small, targeted niche sites interests you watch out for some BIG news on this blog tomorrow!
My next project after Boa Care was to relaunch an old site – Kwikgames.com Kwikgames started as a portfolio for some simple Flash games I’d written back in 2003 as a way of teaching myself Flash. I’d done virtually nothing to the site in several years, and it was very neglected but I knew it had potential.
I decided to rebuild and relaunch the site, incorporating some marketing concepts that I’d learned from NPC, and within a very short time my traffic and revenue had started to increase significantly. I’ll now be adding new content on a regular basis with the aim of building the traffic and revenues steadily into a large income stream.
Finally, I’ve been working on a lot of freelance work. I get several projects every month from sites such as Getafreelancer.com and ScriptLance.com It’s a great way of getting new clients, and so long as you’re careful about choosing which projects to bid on, and pitching your bid correctly (see my earlier post about how to get the most from freelance sites) it can be a substantial and steady income source.
My current ‘big project’ is under wraps at the moment but I’ll be posting about it very shortly. It’s a full video based course which has been a steep learning curve for me, but I believe it has the potential to become one of my primary income streams quite quickly… and I’ll be telling you all about how I did it very soon!
So – the point of this post was firstly to let you know what I’ve been up to recently, and also to share the idea of multiple streams of income. It’s a great feeling to have cheques from Clickbank every month for ebook sales, Paypal deposits from affiliates, advertising revenue from my games site, cheques and wire transfers from clients… because I know that if something happened and i lost one of those income sources I could still rely on the others!
If you’d like to know how to add new income sources to your business, very quickly, and very cheaply, then check back for a special announcement tomorrow (or sign up for my email newsletter and you’ll get an early notification of this big news!)
