OK short post today, hey it is Sunday after all!

I found a great site yesterday which streamlines the process of submitting to Social media and bookmarking sites. The tool can be found at Social Marker and currently aids submission to 47 of the top social media sites.

Just select which sites you want to submit to (from an exhaustive list ranging from the big boys like Digg and Stumbleupon to small but still useful sites like Connectedy and Backflip) and fill out the URL, title, text and tag fields, then click submit.

Social Marker takes you to each site’s submission page in turn, while leaving its own toolbars in frames at the top and bottom of your browser window. In the frames you’ll find information on your progress, buttons to navigate through the list of sites, and text fields containing your submission details making it a simple task of cutting and pasting at each site. Of course, you’ll need an account with each site so the first time you go through the list it takes a while, but once you have accounts at each site you can submit to the full list in a few minutes.

You almost certainly won’t want to submit to every site, every time. Some of these sites are only suitable for certain niches or types of submission, and it would be useful if there was information available about each site from the Social Marker tool. Having said that, it’s a very useful tool which will saves you a lot of time if you’re using social media as a method of driving traffic.

The site is quite new and still in development so I’m sure it will improve with time, but even in its present state it is still very usable. There is a javascript button you can drag to your browser bookmarks to use as a quick submission for any page, and they provide a button to place on your blog or site. All in all, a very useful little tool!
